Kiwi Treazures
*Update my HTML and CSS skills have greatly improved since this. I regularly work on the visual code for mockups since graduating.
This was a project I did for my web class. We needed to find a client that would allow us to build them a website. I also created a logo for the company.

Kiwi Treazures is an online store that sells authentic New Zealand Jewelry. Before her website, she was only selling by word of mouth.
The Problem
My client had no experience with online retail but felt that would be more feasible than opening a shop. My client had very specific colors, features, and layouts they wanted. I needed a way to bring her vision to life while also making the software easy to use.
Scope & Goals
- A fully functional website that could sell her products.
- A specific color scheme comprised of red, black, white, and gray.
- A unique logo that could be used throughout her business.
- An easy-to-use e-commerce platform for handling purchases.
Logo
One of the first projects was creating a logo for the site. The pattern used was one created by my client. She wanted to make sure that was incorporated into it. From there we settled on the Raleway font because she really liked the ‘W’ and felt it made her name stand out more.
I did a kiwi bird that incorporated the tribal patterns that are traditional to New Zealand culture. The whole purpose of this logo was to create something that touched on New Zealand and Polynesian culture. Then I added the colors of red, black, and white which symbolizes the colors of the Maori flag.
Ecwid
I used ecwid to manage all of the products and purchases. This was to allow the client easy access without any knowledge of HTML and CSS. I highly recommend it as she hasn’t had any problems managing or adding products.
Wireframes
I created these for my client after doing some initial sketches. I did these in various screen sizes to give a better idea of what it would look liked resized. I did wireframes for large, medium, small, and x-small screens.
Final Mockups
Results & Conclusion
For my first website client, I was thrilled with the outcome. It was apparent I had more skills in design than code. I received great feedback from my client and professor. It also made me realize how badly I want to improve as a web designer. I plan on continuing to build my coding skills!
