Resume Templates
While working as a design intern for Refer.io, I had the opportunity to create 100 resume templates with my best friend and co-designer. The only catch…we had 10 days to do it.
The templates were then given to computer science interns who coded them onto the Refer site for subscribers. Sign up with Refer.io today and you can use one of my templates for free!

Although, we consider all our resumes to be unisex. I focused on creating female-inspired templates while my co-designer did male-inspired templates. We had no real guidelines other than to optimize them for printing at home.
No Two Alike
Design, design, design. I always try to give myself goals when working on projects. For this one, it was to avoid seeing a design pattern in my resumes. It is easy to become burned out when doing a project with such a short deadline. My goal made that even harder because I wanted every single template to be unique and I wasn’t willing to settle for less.
The UX Approach
As a UX designer, I approached the project how I would anything. What are the user’s wants and needs? Often times resumes are ‘a foot in the door’. You need to stand out. Layout design gives you a lot of freedom to do that. I played with placement, typography, and color to give each resume its own personality while still having the content needed.
Results & Conclusion
This task pushed me more than I could have ever imagined. Not only did I create some of my favorite pieces but I also honed in on my print and layout design skills. I often work through digital media and interfaces so this was a good change of pace.
